Notes: Margery is the earliest reference we have to Gosnells living in the area of Newport, Shropshire (Lilleshall is a few miles south of Newport). It is thus possible that she is an ancestor of the Gosnell family who are found in Newport in the 1700s.
Will:
Copy of the will of Margery Gosnell, late of Lyllehall, in the County of Salop, dated 22 December 1634
"In the name of God, Amen -
I do make my last Will & Testament that I be given me written with my own hand - the twelth daye of July in the year of our (illegible) Lorde lying (illegible) in the six years.
I do give my soul to my Lorde Jesus Christe and my bodye to the grounde desiring my neighbours to let me be laide where they do think best when I am departed that none of my children be not Gowan and my goods to be kept to the house till some of them do come and receive them and I do make my son John Gosnell and my daughter Edie Ongar my sole executors.
I do pay my son Marks For'f-pounds and my daughter Ali Walet For'f pounds and my cousin, Robert Ongar 40 shillings, and my daughter Annie Reads twelpence and Alice twelpence and Marks twelpence and John twelpence."
