Agnes was born in December 1882 in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, and baptised on 2 March 1883 in St Mary Bury St Edmuds, the daughter of Arthur John Steele and Emma Rayner. In 1901, Agnes was a domestic servant in the household of Sarah Rowton. She died in 1918, in Bury St Edmunds district, Suffolk, aged 38, as a result of the flu pandemic.

Death: 26 September 1917, in Ypres, Belgium. Ireland was a private in the 2nd Battalion, Suffolk Regiment (service number 203166). He died in the Battle of Passchendaele and is memorialised on panel 40-41 and 162-162A at the Tyne Cot Memorial to the Missing in Zonnebeke, Belgium
