  There were two cases of cattle stealing, one at Boston when Mrs. Noble had six head stolen, five of which were recovered, one having been killed by the thief, who I hear from the C. I. Officer has been arrested in Johannesberg. In the other case Mr. McLean of Dargle Road had seven head stolen, six of which were recovered and the thief was arrested in the act of eating the other.

Hercules was born in 1887, in Headington district, Oxfordshire, England, the son of Henry Hickman Mulcahy and Anna Margaret Marais. He married, firstly, Florence Lily Hickinbotham on 8 February 1922 in Estcourt, Natal. Florence died on 27 November 1925, leaving a daughter Patricia Margaret Hickman Mulcahy. Hercules was a road overseer in 1922 and 1925, working for the Public Roads Department, and a depot overseer of a roads depot in 1931. In 1934, he is recorded as a civil servant. Hercules died in 1972.

Hester died on 25 July 1930, and Gladys McLean was Albert's second wife. After the death of Gladys, Albert married, thirdly, Dorothy Courtman on 5 July 1940 in St James church, Greytown. Dorothy died in 1964. Albert was a chemist in 1912, and a medical practitioner in records from 1930, 1931, 1936 and 1940. Albert died in 1964, after the death of his 3rd wife that same year.
