Married: Walter Bloyce on 31 October 1857, in Norton, Suffolk, England. The marrige was witnessed by Robert Bloice and Kezia Bloice. Walter is recorded as aged 25, a labourer and bachelor of Norton, the son of James, a labourer. Harriet is recorded as aged 22, a spinster of Thurston, the daughter of John, a labourer.

Kate Blois (Bird) Bloyce

Birth: 1857, in Norton, Suffolk, England, probably 6 January 1857

Baptism: 10 April 1859, in Norton, Suffolk, England. In the baptism record, Kate's birthdate is given as 6 January 1858, clearly in conflict with the civil registration of her birth, and presumably a fiction designed to be more in keeping with her parents' marriage date. It seems quite likely that the birthday given would have been correct, and just a year out.

Notes: Kate was born about six months before the marriage of her mother, Harriet Bird, to Walter Bloyce, but the fact that her middle name is given as Blois is a strong indicator that Walter Bloyce (or Blois) is her father. A her baptism, Walter is listed as her father. In the 1861 census, she is listed as Kate Bloyce Bird, but in the 1871 and 1881 census she is listed with only the Bloyce (actually Bloss and Bloise respectively) surname. In all these censuses, she is listed as the daughter of the household head, Walter Bloyce.
