Mary was born on 20 November 1843 in Kings Norton district, Staffordshire, England, and baptised on 21 January 1844 in North Harborne, Staffordshire, the daughter of Benjamin Bowley and Mary Ann Blewitt. She died on 7 June 1929.

Children: Occupation: Ironmonger. In 1908 John applied for a patent for an "Improved dry pulverizing ore mill for gold quartz and other ores", although this application was withdrawn.
