7. Mrs. Mary Thurston, wife of Joseph Thurston, and daughter of sir john
Shaw. "She lived 30 years a widow, was a very tender and affectionate
mother of her children, and of exemplary piety, virtue, and charity in her
life and conversation." She died June 27, 1720, aged 74.
8. Joseph Thurston, son of Edmund and Aquila, died June 22, 1690, aged 54.
left issue surviving, Joseph, Thomas, and Mary.

of Colchester, co. Essex, gent. All personal estate to my wife Mary
Thurston. To my son Joseph Thurston manor of Holand Hall, co. Essex, and
advowson of Much Holand, lands in Peldon and West Mersey, manor of East
Donyland, house in Walton, all in county of Essex. To my son Thomas
Thurston land in St Nicolas, the "olde Taverne" in St Peter's,
Colchester, land in Walton, Frinton, Kirby Thorpe, Bentley, St Osyth,
Much Horseley, Coln Engain, co. Essex. To my daughter Mary £10,000. To
Joseph and Thomas all my shipping property, land and house "in the
Parishes of Holy (sic) &
St Peters in the occupation of myself and the widow Havens." All
property to be held by my wife, my sole executrix, till my children
attain age of 21. Dated 17 February 168⅞. Witnesses: John Shaw, junr,
Thos: Shaw, Abigail Brasier. Proved at London 8 July 1690 by Mary
P.C.C. 31 Dyke.
